 ITNS-281-Challan-Project-2007-2008

Welcome to the webpage dedicated to our "ITNS281-Challan-Project-2007-2008" which was created and managed by the author, CA Vikram Shankar Mathur, when he was working as a Partner of M/s Rajiv I. Ravani & Co., Chartered Accountants, Ahmedabad, located at 205, Shanti House, Opposite Allahabad Bank.

Essentially, it was a Macro-Enabled Workbook that contained all the code needed to create, print and store the ITNS 281 Challan for any specific organization. Unfortunately, the VBA Project was locked by me and then, as usually happens, the password, over the efflux of time, go forgotten and so I have only the old Screenshots saved on my computer, which I am going to share as a part of the explanations of how that software used to work.

When you opened the workbook, the screen that is depicted in the featured image above would be seen, where the welcome screen userform (Figure 1 below) would be displayed initially, on dismissing which the second Data Entry Sheet (essentially a formatted Excel Worksheet - protected to prevent unauthorised changes), as shown below (Figure 2 below) would appear.

In this Data Entry screen, you could enter the various details necessary for computation of the Tax Deducted at Source, on completion of which the ITNS281 Challan Worksheet (also visible as the tab next to the "EnterData" tab above would get filled and would thereafter be ready for print.

The figure below illustrates how that worksheet would look.

This was the first version of the software that was developed by me.

In the year 2014-2015, I introduced the userform to capture the data necessary, and this came with some checks and balances wherein the generated ITNS 281 Challan could also be stored in the Challan Database created for that purpose in the Macro-Enabled Workbook itself. The following Figure(s) 5 through 7 show this.

In this version, the capability of the Excel Workbook to store a number of clients, for whom the Challan 281 could be generated was built into the software, as shown below, in Figres 8 to 9.

Unfortunately, by the time this development was completed, the Department of Income-Tax had revised some procedures and handed over the maintenace of the TDS data and the generation of Form 16A to TRACES, so this project got abandoned thereafter.
